Kathmandu - Nagarkot
Nepal, officially the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, is a landlocked country in South Asia. It is located mainly in the Himalayas but also includes parts of the Indo-Gangetic Plain. With an estimated population of 26.4 million, it is 48th largest country by population and 93rd largest country by area. Kathmandu is the capital city and largest city of Nepal with a population of 1.5 million in the city proper, and 5 million in its wider urban agglomeration across the Kathmandu Valley. Nagarkot is a village in central Nepal, at the rim of the Kathmandu Valley. It’s known for its views of the Himalayas, including Mount Everest to the northeast, which are especially striking at sunrise and sunset. The surrounding scrubland is laced with trails and home to many butterflies. To the west is the ancient, pagoda-style Changunarayan Temple, dedicated to Vishnu and a Hindu pilgrimage site.
Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu
Arrive at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International airport. You will be met by a local guide / representative and transferred by a private vehicle to your hotel. Arrive at the hotel and check in. First proceed to Bhaktapur, the third of the medieval city-states in the Kathmandu Valley, visit the Nyatapola Temple which is a 5-storey pagoda temple built in 1702 A.D. under the rule of King Bhupatindra Malla. This beautifully sculptured building is considered one of the tallest pagodas in the country. Also see the Bhaktapur Durbar Square which is a plaza in front of the Royal Palace of the old Bhaktapur kingdom and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then visit the popular Pashupatinath Temple which is a famous Hindu sacred temple and located on the banks of the Bagmati river. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and attracts hundreds of followers of Hinduism. Rest of the day at leisure to enjoy one of the many adventure activities that Kathmandu has to offer – take a mountain flight, bungee jumping, go canyoning, white water rafting, new Tandem Swing & High Ropes. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 2: Kathmandu
After breakfast, morning proceed for half day sightseeing of Kathmandu city and Swayambhunath - 'Swayambhu is an ancient religious architecture atop a hill in the Kathmandu Valley, west of Kathmandu city. The Tibetan name for the site means 'Sublime Trees', for the many varieties of trees found on the hill. Perched atop a hill on the western edge of the Kathmandu Valley, the ancient Swayambunath Stupa (known to tourists as the Monkey Temple) is Kathmandu's most important Buddhist shrine. Then visit the Kathmandu Durbar Square in front of the old royal palace of the former Kathmandu Kingdom and is one of three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. After lunch (at own expense), proceed for an excursion to Nagarkot, the hill-station of Kathmandu. It is the top spot for enjoying Himalayan views from the comfort of your hotel balcony. Get a evening sunset views from the view tower which is spectacular sight. Late evening return back to your hotel in Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 3: Kathmandu – Nagarkot
After breakfast, check out and proceed to Nagarkot. Arrive at Nagarkot and check in at your hotel. Nagarkot is the hill-station of Kathmandu. It is the top spot for enjoying Himalayan views from the comfort of your hotel balcony. Get morning sunrise and a evening sunset views from the view tower which is spectacular sight. Rest of the day at leisure to relax and enjoy the scenic surroundings. Overnight at hotel in Nagarkot.
Day 4: Nagarkot
After breakfast, proceed take a short hike to the Nagarkot view tower among the thickly forested hills with pine trees. Get some great views of the Himalayas and the breathtaking mountain scenery. There are lots of spectacular hiking trails and beautiful nature walks. This is the place to relax in the peace. From the view tower you will have a 360 view of the himalayas one of the broadest views of himalayas along with kathmandu valley, lush greenery of national parks, rolling hills,etc. Lots of people they wake up early and do sunrise hiking to Witness the magnificent sunrise along with the grandeur and magnificence of the himalayas. What makes the sunrise hiking very special is with morning sunrise changing colours of the snow capes himalayas. It's like fire on ice. Still it is a very scenic walk to the view tower during daytime with the stunning views of the unobstructed landscapes, rolling hills, thick pine forests and charming villages.
Day 5: Nagarot - Kathmandu
After breakfast, check out and transfer back to Kathmandu. Arrive at Kathmandu and directly visit Boudhanath which is a stupa in Kathmandu. This is the largest stupa in Nepal and the holiest Tibetan Buddhist temple outside Tibet. It is the center of Tibetan culture in Kathmandu and rich in Buddhist symbolism. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 6: Depart Kathmandu
Check out and transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
